يشكل هذا الكتاب الخوري بولس الفغالي هذا إطلالات لاهوتية على العهد القديم ينهل منها نصوصاً تتعلق بالعهد القديم من أسفار التوراة الخمسة إلى بعض الأسفار التاريخية، وما جاء به الأنبياء، وأسفار الحكمة في لغاتها المختلفة.
توزع الكتاب على أربعة أقسام: في القسم الأول يدور الحديث حول مفهوم الإرسال: الله يدعو والإنسان يجيب، وفيها قصة ابراهيم وموسى وأشعيا، وهوشع، في علاقتهم مع الرب.
ومع القسم الثاني ندخل في عالم التوراة والأسفار التاريخية لنقرأها قراءة جديدة بعد المقدمات التي دونت منذ سنوات عديدة. خصوصاً سفر العدد "حيث نرى جيلاً يموت وآخر يولد من أجل الدخول في أرض الموعد". وكما في سفر يشوع (كتاب الليتورجيا والصلاة)، وسفر القضاة أو عمل الروح في الجماعة.
وفي القسم الثالث إطلالة على القسمين الآخرين من العهد القديم، حزقيال، دانيال، نشيد الأناشيد، وحكمة يشوع بين شيراخ، الحكيم الذي جاء في خط النبي سليمان، كان على مفترق هام في حياة المؤمنين حيث أعاد بناء الشعب. وأخيراً سفر دانيال والبحث عن المستقبل.
ويأتي القسم الرابع والأخير مع آباء الكنيسة "يعقوب السروجي والكتاب المقدس" الذي يتأمل في شخص "يفتاح": (الميمر 159)، وفي شخص "شمشون" (الميمر 160) وفي شخص شمشون هذا جدال عمل النعمة في الإنسان والحرية التي يحترمها الرب.
