لعل المتصفح للرصيد التأليفي المنشور ليفتقد الدراسات المتصلة بموضوع الخواطر في التراث الإسلامي، في الوقت الذي نجد فيه التناول العلمي للموضوع قاصراً على الفنون الأدبية ومباحث علم النفس.
يحاول هذا العمل الكشف عن عطاء شخصية متفردة، ومدرسة متجددة نقلت علم الخواطر من التأسيس النظري إلى التقعيد العملي، والتمثل السلوكي بعد أن كانت مسائله نتفاً متفرقة، ومباحث مشتتة لا يَنْظِمها تصور شامل، أو نظر جامع.
فقد أرسى الإمام أبو الحسن علي بن ميمون الغماري (ت 917هـ) معالم مدرسة اشتهرت بين مدارس التربية والتزكية في المشرق والمغرب وتركيا "بالمدرسة الخواطرية" جعلت من الأصول المؤسسة لها الإفصاح عن هذه الخواطر، والتمييز بينها، وتبين إشاراتها، وإدراك مراتبها، وإستكناه أسرارها، مؤسساً بذلك منهجاً تربوياً ونفسياً يعد نموذجاً فريداً للإستلهام والإقتباس، والإستفادة من روافده وقواعده لعلاج حالات نفسية، وحل مشكلات تربوية.
تبرز أهمية هذه المدرسة التربوية في ظل ما يشهده عصرنا من إضطرابات نفسية، وتشوهات خُلقية، وإنحرافات سلوكية أنتجت عللاً شتى، وظواهر جمة غريبة؛ من مثيل: الإنتحار، والوسواس القهري، والإكتئاب، والفصام، والذهان، والعصاب، والإنطواء... في واقع اشتدت أزماته، وتسارعت متغيراته، وإزدادت مشاكله، وتعاظمت إكراهاته ومتطلباته؛ تُمسي معه الحاجة ملحة إلى البحث والتنقيب من داخل نسقنا المعرفي، ومنظومتنا القيمية، وتراثنا الفكري والتربوي عن أدوية شافية، وأجوبة كافية، وحلول منقذة... حتى لا نبقى عالة على غيرنا، نقتات من فتات موائد نظرياتهم العلاجية دون إلتفات إلى ما يحفل به تراثنا التربوي من تجارب ناجحة، وعلاقات نافعة قادرة على إنتشال إنسان هذا العصر من ظلام الجهل بحقيقة نفسه، وسر وجوده، وغاية كَبَده وتعبه، مسعفة لنفسه وعقله وروحه.
