كانت طخارستان في مقدمة مدن المشرق الاسلامي التي خضعت كانت طخارستان في مقدمة مدن المشرق الاسلامي التي خضعت وكانت طخارستان محط انظار الامارات الاسلامية واطماعها، اذ كانت معبرا لجيوشهم ومعقلاً لهم، فكانت تابعة اداريا للامارة الصفارية (259-297ه/782-909م، ثم السامانية(261– 389 هـ/874 - 909 م، ثم الغزنوية (351- 582هـ/ 962- 1166م)، والسلاجقة (447-590هـ/ 1055-1193م)، وكانت مسرحا للصراع بين الامارة الخوارزمية (490– 628هـ /1096 – 1230م)، والغورية (543 – 612هـ/1148 – 1215هـ)، والقراخانية (315 – 607هـ / 927 – 1210م)، كانت طخارستان بمثابة محطة عبور لجيوشهم خلال حملاتهم العسكرية على مدن المشرق الاسلامي، وخلال صراعاتهم ونزاعاتهم. وتناولت في دراستي هذه تأسيس مملكة الباميان وطخارستان واهم حكامها، ودورهم السياسي والعسكري، على الرغم من هذه المملكة كانت تابعة للامارة الغورية غير انها احتفظت بتاريخ مستقل لها حاز اهمية كبيرة عند الباحثين، اذ حكمها عدة امراء لكل واحد منهم تاريخ سياسي وعلمي مستقل عن الاخر على الرغم من قصر مدة حكم كل واحد منهم. وللاهمية التاريخية والجغرافية التي حازها طخارستان فلم تسلم من هجمات المغول واطماعهم، فشنوا حملاتهم العسكرية على اهم قلاعها ونواحيها حتى تمكنوا من فرض سيطرتهم بالكامل عليها. وما تعرضت له طخارستان من هجمات عسكرية وتنافس سياسي بين القوى يدل على اهميتها جغرافياً وسياسياً واقتصادياً. وعرجت على اهم مظاهر ازدهار الحياة العلمية في طخارستان ومدنها، فقد تنوعت وتعددت علومها، فمنها العلوم الدينية ومنها الفقهية، والفكرية والعلمية، واسهم هذا في بروز علماء عدة من ابنائها، كان لعدد منهم مصنفات ومؤلفات متنوعة وفي علوم شتى تركوا لنا من خلالها بصمات واضحة في علم الحديث والفقه واللغة والنحو والتاريخ وغيرها من العلوم.
