يهدف هذا الكتاب إلى الكشف عن آثار عمر أبو ريشة المجهولة، غير الموجودة في دواوينه، مع الإشارة أن عمر أبا ريشة كان مقلاً جداً في نشر آثاره، الشعرية منها والأدبية. وباعتبار أن عمر أحد أعمدة الشعر العربي بالإضافة إلى كونه سياسياً مارس العمل السياسي فإن لآرائه قيمة كبيرة من الناحيتين الأدبية والسياسية. لذا يحرص الكاتب على جمع أغلب المقابلات الصحفية التي أجريت معه، حتى تكتمل صورته في نظر القارئ. ويولي الكتاب اهتماما بنثر أبي ريشة .فيجمع ما أمكن من آثاره القيمة. ويتناول الكتاب الفصول التالية: في محراب الشعر، الدواوين المجهولة، قصائد غير معروفة، نظرات في شعر أبي ريشة، رأي عمر أبو ريشة في الشعر والشعراء ورأي الشعراء فيه، عمر أبو ريشة والنثر, عمر أبو ريشة والصحافة.
