يعتبر كتاب "التشبيبات والطلب" لإبن المرزبان الكرخي من ضمن كتب موسوعته التعليمية "المنتهى في الكمال" وهو كنز من كنوز التراث العربي الذي خلّفه لنا السلف الصالح في القرن الرابع الهجري. ويتحدث فيه المؤلف عن التشبيب والطلب، وتشبيب الكتب يراد به الإبتداء بها والأخذ فيها.
ومن خلال قراءة مادة الكتاب سيجد القارىء أنه يُعنى بالكيفية المناسبة للكتابة، مما يستدعي الإهتمام بالمكتوب بما يتلاءم مع الشخص المكتوب إليه، وما يتناسب مع نوعية الطلب؛ حتى يتحصل الكاتب على مراده.
وقد جمع إبن المرزبان في الكتاب لأجل ذلك مقطعات شعرية ونثرية تتعلق بالطلب، كما أنه أنشأ كلاماً في هذا الكتاب، وجعله في قسمين: الأول منها: تعليمي حشد فيه المؤلف مجموعة من النصوص النثرية خاصة ليتمكن المتعلم من محاكاتها، وفق ما يتطلبه الموضوع. والثاني ضمنه طريقة إرشاد وتوجيه، من خلال عرض بعض الآيات القرآنية أو الأحاديث النبوية أو غيرها من النصوص والتي ترغّب في أمر ما أو تحذر منه.
هذا، وقد حقق النسخة الخطية للكتاب الأستاذ عمر بن بشير أحمد صديقي بالمقابلة بين نسختين أصليتين، وإثبات الفروق بينهما، وضبط كلمات المتن بالشكل للوصول إلى البُعد المعنوي الذي قصده المؤلف مع تخريج الآيات الكريمة، وكتابتها بالرسم العثماني، وتخريج الأحاديث النبوية والآثار من كتب السُّنة ونحوها مما يتعلق بدراسة الأحاديث، وما ورد في الصحيحين أو أحدهما ... وتخريج الأبيات الشعرية، وتخريج الأخبار والأقوال التي ذكرها إبن المرزبان من مظانها في مؤلفات أصحابها أو غيرهم وشرح الكلمات الغربية والترجمة لغير المشاهير ممن ورد ذكرهم في الكتاب ...
