إن مواد القاموس مأخوذة من عالم ما يهواه الطفل، حيث يتعرف مثلاً الأسد والبطة والبقرة والسرير والجوزة والخيمة وراعي البقر والزورق والسيارة... فقد روعي في مجموعة الكلمات المختارة أن تكون متناسبة مع مستوى الطفل وأن تجمع بين الفائدة والمتعة.
