يطرح هذا الكتاب أسس التقارب بين الشأنَين المحاسبيّ والضريبيّ، ومستوى هذه العلاقة في ظلّ تطوّرات معايير المحاسبة الدوليّة ومعايير التقارير الماليّة الدوليّة التي تمّ اعتمادها في لبنان. ويتطرّق إلى موضوع التهرّب الضريبيّ كعامل مؤثّر في العلاقة الكامنة ما بين الضريبية والمحاسبة، كما تمّ طرح تأثير المفهوم الدينيّ والسياسيّ على العامل المحاسبيّ من جهة والعامل الضريبيّ من جهة ثانية.
يحتوي الكتاب على ثلاثة أجزاء، حيث تمّ طرح المواضيع المرتبطة بالقوانين الضريبيّة تاريخيًّا في الجزء الأوّل بالإضافة إلى المعادلة الماليّة والسياسيّة والاقتصاديّة والاجتماعيّة للضريبة. ويشمل الجزء الثاني المواضيع المرتبطة بالمحاسبة تاريخيًّا وصولًا إلى اعتماد معايير التقارير والإفصاحات الماليّة. وفي الجزء الثالث، تمّ استخلاص آراء كوادر الإدارة الضريبيّة وأصحاب مكاتب التدقيق والمراجعة بغية دراستها وتحليلها.
وأخيراً، تمّ عرض اقتراحات شملت وضع أسس واضحة لإعداد البيانات الماليّة بالنسبة للشركات، ممّا يعني تعديل النظام المحاسبيّ العامّ اللبنانيّ، كما تمّ طرح بعض الحلول لمعالجة التهرّب الضريبيّ.
