ولد بحلب، وفيها تلقى تعليمه.
عمل في بيروت محرراً لمجلة «المكشوف»، وأصدر مع عمر فاخوري ورئيف خوري مجلة «الطريق»، وتولى رئاسة تحريرها من 1941- 1947، ثم تولى إدارة مكتب دار الهلال المصرية ومراسلة صحفها، ثم عمل مديراً للمكتب الصحفي في رئاسة الأركان السورية، وعاد بعدها ليصدر مجلة «الحرية»، ثم ليؤسس دار نشر باسم «دار الكاتب العربي».
له العديد من المؤلفات، منها: ـ أبو ذر الغفاري: أول ثائر في الإسلام.
ـ جمال الدين الأفغاني: حكيم الشرق.
ـ أشهر المحاكمات في التاريخ.
ـ محمد عبده: بطل الثورة الفكرية في الإسلام.
Book Description
يروي هذا الكتاب قصة الصراع بين الشرق والغرب خلال القرنين الثاني عشر والثالث عشر للميلاد. هذا الصراع تجسد في تلك الحروب التي أطلق عليها الحروب الصليبية والتي نمت فكرتها الرهيبة نتيجة لعوامل اقتصادية وسياسية واجتماعية، وعلى الرغم من سمتها الدينية إلا أنها كانت بعيدة عنها لأنها حملت في طياتها أفكاراً وأهدافاً استعمارية، وهبت تلك العاصفة الجنونية التي تركت جرحاً عميقاً في حياة البشرية، وقد جددت هذه الحروب المروعة ما دار من نضال عنيف بين الشرق والغرب في حروب طروادة ورومة، وحروب فارس ويونان، ودشنت الكفاح الذي نشب بينهما بعد انطفاء جذوة الحروب الصليبية بأجيال: كفاح الغرب لاستعمار الشرق واستثماره، وكفاح الشرق في سبيل تحرره واستقلاله، وهو كفاح مؤثر بلغ أوجه في عصرنا الحاضر.
وهكذا وضمن مقاربة تاريخية سياسية اجتماعية يلقي المؤلف الضوء على تلك الحقبة التاريخية التي حملت في طياتها المفاجآت فبرز من خلالها اسم جسد مفنًى هو صلاح الدين الذي أعاد للمسلمين اعتبارهم ورفع راية الإسلام خفاقة فوق قدسه. فجاء الكتاب بمثابة سجل تاريخي حافل وضع بأسلوب قصصي شيق دون إغفال المنحى العلمي إذ أن الكتاب حمل في سردياته طابع المنهج التاريخي العلمي فكان الكاتب بهذه السيرة التي عرفها في كتابه الضخم، المانع الجامع، مؤرخاً بأمانته، ومحللاً بعقله، وناقداً بصفته، ومصوراً بريشته، ووطنياً بقلبه وعاطفته.
