قد نصعق إذا ما تبين لنا في أي عالم خالي من المشاعر والإنفعالات نعيش، تسيطر عليه التقنية وضغط الإزدهار الإقتصادي، ومع ذلك توجهنا مشاعر لاشعورية عنيفة، حتى وإن كانت مكبوتة، لهذا فإنه من المفيد الإهتمام بهذا الأمر.
الموضوع يدور هنا حول الإنفعالات والمشاعر والوجدان، حول العلاقة المعقدة بين الإنفعالات والأخلاق والمنطق، حول الحب والشهوة وحول الحب بوصفه جدل إنفعالي، حول الكره والحنق والغيظ والغضب والإنتقام والحسد والغيرة، بمقدار ما ترتبط أفكارنا بالطمع والجشع والسيطرة والجاه، والأمل بإنفعالات جديدة.
وحول كل موضوع من هذه المواضيع سوف أعط لمحة عامة حول ما يمكن للعلوم المتفرقة أن تسهم به، وسوف أستند هنا إلى علم النفس والتحليل النفسي والفلسفة، وأكرر هنا ما هو معروف، وأقدم أيضاً ما هو جديد، وسأقدم ذلك على شكل رسائل مختصرة، ولا أسترشد هنا باللامنطقية وإنما سأظل واقفاً على أرضية العلم حتى وإن انزلقت هنا وهناك، وبالتحديد عند التطرق للإنفعالات الإنسانية إلى حدود العلمية؛ ألم يقل بلايس باسكال Blasie Pascal: "القلب" - وبدلاً من "القلب" يمكننا أيضاً أن نقول "الإنفعالات" - "هل يملك المنطق، ما لا يعرفه العقل" باسكال يهتم بالعلاقة بالرب.
وأنا بوصفي محللاً نفسياً تهمني العلاقة بذواتنا نحن وبأناسنا، وهذه العلاقات هي دائماً علاقات إنفعالية، علاقات مشاعر، ويمكن التغلب على الإضطرابات في حياتنا الإنفعالية، والتحرر من الإنفعالات المكبوتة وأن نعيش من جديد الإنفعالات الكامنة على شكل إعادة إضفاء الصفة الإنفعالية Reemotionalization، وحيث لا توجد إنفعالات يمكن بناؤها من خلال إضفاء الصفة الإنفعالية الأولية Primary Emotinalization أي خلقها وتأسيسها من منبعها، من دوافعها، عندئذ تصبح الإنفعالات قوى تهبنا التوتر الشافي الذي يعطينا إجابات عن أسئلة إنسانيتنا وتقيم علاقات بين الناس.
الموضوع هو حول تعلم وإكتشاف وإختراع لغة مشاعرنا وإنفعالاتنا لم التي يعلمنا إياها أي إنسان.
