هو عالم وأديب سوري وأستاذ في جامعة دمشق، وأحد أبرز المفكرين والمثقفين في سورية، لديه أكثر من 22 انتاج أدبي وعلمي في مختلف الميادين الأدبية والسياسية والعلمية.
كان له الفضل في تحقيق مكاسب كبيرة لأعضاء اتحاد الكتاب العرب وخاصة في أول سنتين من تسلمه رئاسة اتحاد الكتاب العرب في عام 2005 تمثلت بتحقيق وفر عام بقيمة 27 مليون ليرة سورية، كما قام برفع قيمة الضمان شالصحي وأجور الأعضاء.

قدّم المؤلف في هذا الكتاب أحد أفضل الأبحاث المعلقة بحياة وفكر الأديب إبن المقفع، حيث يعد عبد الله بن المقفع من أهم رجال الإرتباط الثقافي بين الإيرانيين والعرب في العصر العباسي، أتقن العربية والفارسية، وخدم في دواوين الأمويين، ثم اسلم في العصر العباسي، وتعاون مع الحكام العباسيين، وقتله المنصور بتهمة سياسية.
عاش إبن المقفع في عصر أريد فيه للناس أن يتخلوا عن ارادتهم وعقلهم تحت شعار الإستسلام للقضاء والقدر، وأن ينظروا إلى الحاكم بأنه مفروض الطاعة، يحكم كيف يشاء، في مثل هذا المجتمع نهض إبن المقفع بثورة فكرية كان لها دورها الهام في نهوض الحركة العقلية الإسلامية من كبوتها حيث سخر طاقاته الخلاّقة وثقافته المزدوجة وعبقريته الأدبية لتحقيق أهدافه.
جاء هذا الكتاب في أربعة فصول، حيث تعلق الفصل الأول بحياة وصفات إبن المقفع وبكل ما يعرّفنا بشخصيته المتميزة.
جاء الفصل الثاني بعنوان (آثاره وأبعادها الفكرية) حيث عالج الآثار المنسوبة إليه والمفقودة مثل (البنكش والسكيكن، وأنا لوطيقا وإيسا غوجي): ثم آثاره المفقودة وهي (خداي نامه، والآيين، والتاج و مزدك، ورسالة تنسر، والدرة اليتيمة ...): ثم آثاره الموجودة مثل (كليلة ودمنة، والأدب الصغير، والأدب الكبير، ورسالة الصحابة ...).
جاء الفصل الثالث بعنوان (براءته من الزندقة) وأخيراً قدّم الفصل الرابع الأسباب التي جعلت ابن المقفع يحظى باحترام أعدائه ومناصريه في نثره؛ ثم بين مكانته لدى القدماء والمحدثين وأثر كتبه فيهم: وكيف غدت مكانته عالمية.
