هذا الكتاب هو الجزء الأول الذي ننشره من مجموع المؤلفات الفلسفية لموفق الدين عبد اللطيف بن يوسف البغدادي (ت. 629هـ / 1231م)؛ وهو يضم مجموعةً من نصوصه التي تنظر في موضوعات فلسفية وطبية وعلمية، كما تعرض لقضايا إبستمولوجية وأخلاقية تتعلق بالممارسين للطب وللفلسفة وللصنعة (الكيمياء).
هذه النصوص ذات أهمية كبرى، وتكمن هذه الاخيرة، في تقديرنا، في أربعة أمور على الأقل: أولها أنها نصوص ذات قيمة فلسفية وعلمية معتبرة؛ وثانيها، كونها وثيقة يمكن إعتمادها، من بين وثائق أخرى، لرصد الوضعية التي وصلت إليها العلوم والصنائع، كالفلسفة والطب والكيمياء، في عصر البغدادي؛ وثالث الأمور التي تُظهر أهمية هذه النصوص هي أنها غنية جداً، لا فقط بثقافتها الفلسفية والطبية والعلمية التي تحيل عليها وإنما أيضاً بسعتها الأدبية والبلاغية؛ ورابع الأمور أن هذه النصوص تلقي أضواء على الإشكال التاريخي المتعلق بمصير الفلسفة في العالم ذي الغالبية المسلمة بعد كلام أبي حامد الغزالي (ت. 505هـ/ 1111م).
وفعلاً، يكفي أن يكون موفق الدين البغدادي قد عاش جزءاً من حياته في القرن السابع الهجري / الثالث عشر الميلادي، حتى تظهر اهمية نصوصه من جهة التأريخ للفلسفة في العالم المذكور، فقد ظل الناس لمدة طويلة يرددون حكاية أن الفلسفة قد توقفت فيه لتفسح المجال لعصر الإنحطاط، الذي ابتدأ مباشرة بعد تهافت الفلاسفة.
ومن هنا، فإن نصوص البغدادي الفلسفية والعلمية هي، في تقديرنا، شهادة صريحة على سقوط تلك الحكاية، والواقع أن البغدادي قد جمع بين تقديم شاهد لإزدهار الفاعلية الفلسفية بعد وفاة أبي الوليد ابن رشد (ت. 595هـ / 1198م)، خلافاً لما تروج له الحكاية المذكورة، وبين تقديم مثال لفيلسوفٍ خارج عما يُعتبر التيارَ المهيمن في الفلسفة في عصره، أعني تيار السينوية، لقد قرر البغدادي أن يكتب ضد ابن سينا (ت. 427هـ / 1037م) والسينوية!...
