"أعوذ من حول شعر بات ترتجف... ومن خضاب دم بالحزن يختطف.. أي لا أكتب ألفاظاً أنمّقتها... فعتريني وما ألغيته الضعف... ويرتوي الخدّ من ومع يمرّ به... إذ ينبري لشفاف المصنفة الشغف... ما هذه الدار إلا حال قافلة... تخبّ مشياً وبعض الركب قد وقفوا... فأصبحوا لا يرى إلا مآثرهم... ليعترينا على آثارهم كشفُ... محمد العيد يا ركب الكرام مضى... كأنه من سموّ الفضل يزدلف... يا أيها العيد هذا صوت قافيتي... يلومني بلسان ثم يعتسف... يا أيها الشاعر المزجي مطيته... إليك نعي القوافي مشيها رفق... بادلت حبك من قلب وما سمعت.... أذناك أن بذات البحر أغترف.. سمعت أنك تتلو الحب في بهجِ... ويرعويك عن التصريح مؤتلف... ما زدت عني بها مذهبّ طائرها... فيك المحبة لم يغمض لها طرفُ... إن الكبار إذا ما الحب طوّقهم... يذودهم عن مدى تصريحهم شرف... يا أيها الحبر أقلامٌ لنا فقدت... بك الحبور ففي آثارها كلفٌ... إني لأفتح عيني حين أفتحها... على كثير ولكن أنت تختلف....".
باقة شعرية تعبق بروائح زمن الشعر الجميل... يطوف الشاعر على مدائن الأغراض الشعرية منتقياً أرقاها... ويدور على حدائق المعاني منتخباً أغناها... ويتنقل بين أزاهير الكلمات مقتطفاً أحلاهما فتسري في القصائد حالة وجدانية تستحيل قوافيها موسيقى ساحرة عذبة تسري داخل النفس... فترددها منتشية بسحر إيقاعها إلى النهاية، ليثبت الشاعر من خلال ذلك كله إلى أنه ما زال للشعر المقفى عبقه: معنىً ومعنىً... إيقاعاً وموسيقى، بلاغةً وبياناً...
