يحاول هذا الكتاب تسليط الضوء على قدرة دول العالم العربي على الوصول إلى إحداث تقارب من أجل إقامة نموذج مشترك للتنمية المستدامة وتجسيده على ارض الواقع في ظل المتغيرات الداخلية والضغوطات الخارجية وفي هذا الشأن لا بد من الإجابة على عدة تساؤلات تطرح نفسها على الخبراء والباحثين في شأن تقييم ما تم إنجازه على صعيد التعاون الإقتصادي والتنموي بين الدول العربية وإمكانية أن يشكل منطلقاً لتجسيد التنمية المستدامة ومن جانب آخر يحاول التعمق في مدى نجاح محاولات التكتل والتعاون في المجال السياسي والإقتصادي والإجتماعي والتجاري فإلى أي مدى يمكن للعولمة باعتبارها أحد أكبر مقوضات التنمية المستدامة أن تؤثر سلباً أو إيجاباً على التنمية المتدامة في العالم العربي الإسلامي؟ إن هذا العمل حاولنا من خلاله تقديم الإجابة المناسبة لما يمكن طرحه من تساؤلات، على ضوء الكثير من الدراسات العلمية التي تناولت الموضوع بمختلف جوانبه، ليكون بذلك مساعداً دراسياً مهما في مجال العلوم السياسية والعلاقات الدولية وكذا العلوم الإقتصادية.
وبناءً عليه، جرى تقسيم الكتاب على ستة فصول وفق ما يلي:
الفصل الأول: التكامل الإقتصادي العربي والحاجة إليه.
الفصل الثاني: نماذج من مشروعات التكامل الإقتصادي في الدول العربية والإسلامية.
الفصل الثالث: التنمية المستدامة كآلية لدعم التكامل بين الدول العربية.
الفصل الرابع: العولمة وآثارها على التكامل الإقتصادي.
الفصل الخامس: العالم العربي ووإمكانية مواجهة تحديات العولمة.
الفصل السادس: أسس بناء أنموذج التكامل العربي.
