الهدف من هذه الدراسة هو إلقاء الضوء على حياة المراهق الاجتماعية والتربوية والعلاقة بينه وبين المرشد التربوي أو من سوف يأخذ بيده إلى طريق الأمان ويوصله إلى ما يبغي الوصول إليه وفق استعداداته وقدراته.
وفرضية البحث هي أنه كلما كان التوجيه التربوي للمراهق يسير باتجاه سليم كلما كان استعداد المراهق لأن يجد نفسه في المكان الذي تسمح له إمكانياته بالحصول عليه أو تصويب المسار الذي يسير به المراهق أي أن سلوك المراهق التربوي يتحدد من خلال عمل المرشد أو الموجه التربوي.
ويتضمن موضوع البحث الجوانب التربوية التي تخص المراهق وتشكل بالنسبة إليه أهمية كبرى وتقدم له يد العون والمساعدة، بالإضافة إلى الحياة الاجتماعية للمراهق والحياة الأسرية.
والمنهج المعتمد في البحث هو منهج وصفي تحليلي يقوم على وصف حالة المراهق وحالة الموجه التربوي والعلاقة بينهما والأثر الناتج على أسرة المراهق.
