شهدت أرض كربلاء عبر التاريخ حوادث كثيرة ومعارك أثناء الفتوحات الإسلامية إلى أن جاءت سنة 61 للهجرة حيث شهدت كربلاء أكبر جريمة إنسانية عندما وقعت فيها معركة الطف، ووتلت هذه المعركة حوادث كثيرة ووقائع بالغة الشدة استمرت إلى عصرنا الحالي. في هذا الكتاب يتناول السيد عبد الصاحب ناصر آل نصر الله الحوادث والوقائع التي جرت في أرض كربلاء قبل أن تصبح مدينة وتتمصّر، وبعد أن أصبحت مدينة يُشار إليها بالبنان لأهميتها التاريخية، وخاصة أنها ضمت بين حناياها جسد سيد الشهداء الحسين وأهل بيته وأصحابه البررة.
وفي هذا السياق، يبحث المؤلف في تاريخ كربلاء منذ فترة السلالة البابلية الثامنة، حيث توفق الآراميون سنة 986 ق.م. في احتلال قسماً من أرض كربلاء القريب من نهر الفرات لمحاصرة مدينة (بابل) وعزلها عن المدن المجاورة لها من ناحية الجنوب والغرب ...
بعد ذلك يتابع المؤلف ذكر الحوادث حسب تواريخها إلى بداية عمليات الإحتلال الأميركي للعراق، حيث كانت الضربة الجوية الأولى من نصيب مدينة كربلاء مروراً بمدن أخرى، يذكر المؤلف فيها مشاهد الحرب وأثرها على البلاد والعباد.
