Book Description
إن دراسة علم البيئة والمشكلات المرتبطة بها وإتقان فهمها والوعي تجاهها، بات أمراً ضرورياً بالنسبة للطالب الجامعي، فهو المرشح الأقوى لقيادة عملية التوعية البيئية في المجتمع، لا سيما أننا قد غدونا نعيش في ظل واقع بيئي محلي وعالمي يتداعى بإضطراد مع إستمرار تزايد مسببات ذلك التداعي.
لذا، فإن هذا الكتاب يمثل محاولة لإفهام وإقناع القارئ، أكان طالباً جامعياً أم سواه، بالأهمية الجوهرية للبيئة وبعظمة الخدمات التي تقدمها للبشرية جمعاء من ناحية، وبخطورة المشكلات التي نسببها لها من ناحية أخرى.
يختص الباب الأول من الكتاب بعلم البيئة Ecology، منقسماً إلى ثلاثة فصول: الأول منها يقدم تعريفاً لهذا العلم مع بيان لتاريخ تطوره ومناهجه العلمية، ويتطرق الفصل الثاني لأهم المفاهيم الأساسية في علم البيئة من قبيل المكونات البيئية والنظام البيئي والدورات البيئية الكبرى، أما الفصل الثالث فيعرض لشرح العلاقات البيئوية القائمة بين الكائنات الحية والتي تحكم المجتمع الاحيائي مثل التكيف والتنافس والإفتراس والتكافل.
أما الباب الثاني فهو يهتم بموضوع المشكلات البيئية العالمية Global Environmental Issues، وضمن هذا الباب، يمهد الفصل الرابع إلى تحديد معنى المشكلة البيئية وبيان هيكلها وتاريخ نشوئها، وبدءاً من الفصل الخامس يجري إستعراض المشكلات البيئية متمثلة أولاً بمشكلة التلوث البيئي بأنواعه المختلفة وآثاره المتنوعة، فيما يُعنى الفصل السادس بمشكلة تحطيب الغابات المدارية.
ويهتم الفصل السابع بمشكلة التصحر، ويعرض الفصل الثامن لمشكلة التغير المناخي وأبعادها البيئية، أما الفصل التاسع فيختص بتحليل مشكلة خسارة التنوع الإحيائي، وينتقل الفصل العاشر إلى إختلال الأمن الغذائي العالمي بوصفه مشكلة بيئية ناشئة، فيما يستعرض الفصل الحادي عشر مشكلة إنتاج الطاقة والآثار البيئية الناجمة عنها.
ويمثل الفصل الثاني عشر ختام هذا الكتاب عبر تناوله بعض الكوارث الطبيعية بإعتبارها مشكلات بيئية مؤثرة مثل الزلازل والإنفجارات البركانية والفيضانات العارمة والأعاصير المدمرة وتفشي الأوبئة الفتاكة.
