تقول الشاعرة: "ثمة أيام وثمة أحلام،/طفوك فيها إذعان واستسلام،/وتطوافك ملكاتك،/لكنه الحقيقة الماثلة بلا توافق،/فكيف يكون وكَونه يعني امتثال،/وقطعاً لا يناسبه ذلك... أبداً/نَسيت فَصمتّ، أكمل أنت، ففي كل الأحوال سيقف التاريخ بصفك!".
هكذا تكتب أسماء الفهيد تقول كلماتها بحرية، لتؤكد كينونتها كأنثى، من خلال جمالية الصورة الشعرية والدلالات، والتأويلات، التي تجعل المتلقي، يتشارك مع الشاعرة في أكثر من منعطف، وعلى درجة كبيرة من التأثر والتأثير المتبادل وأخيراً "مدينة الملح والقسوة" هي نص نثري طويل يمتد على طول صفحات الكتاب وهو إضافة مهمة في مسيرة الشاعرة الأدبية...
