إن البحث في مسألة العقل والنقل تبقى بين مد وجزر ومناقشتها والخوض فيها من أجل تحديد الخطوط الدقيقة بين ما هو عقلي ونقلي فضلاً عن التداخلات في تلك القضايا التي تعتبر من المسائل التي تناولها المفكرون والفلاسفة على مر العصور ،فاختلفت المذاهب والاتجاهات الفكرية بين ما هو داخل حدود العقل المحسوس ،ومنهم من دخل في المسائل الإلهية وترك الجوانب المادية باتجاه الشرع على حساب العقل ،في حين لا توجد هناك مسائل خلافية بين الشريعة والعقل بل مكملان لبعضهما البعض ،فلا إفراط ولا تفريط ،ومسألة التاويل والاجتهاد معزوة غلى العقل وهذا متاح في الشريعة فالغزالي لم يكتف برد العلوم العقلية الى العلوم الشرعية بل اعتبر العقل نوراً إلاهياً في الصدر فيساعد الانسان في الفهم والادراك والتصديق بوحدانية الله وعبوديته واليقين بالأمور الأزلية والعلوم الشرعية ،وبهذا تحول العقل غلى أمر إلهي مما أدى إلى طريق التصوف وهو انشراح الصدر وزوال الحجب المادية التي تجعل النفس والعقل والروح مرتهنة لها ،وبحالة التصوف هذه تجعله أكثر تحرراً في إطلاق الأحكام والمغالاة في التصوف .والكتاب بين أيدينا يبحث في حياة الغزالي ،بين العقل والنقل ،التأويل والاجتهاد ،فلسفة الغزالي ،الغزالي ورأيه بالعقل ،الغزالي وآراؤه الكلامية ،رسائل الغزالي ،مسائل العقل .
