متن «الزبد» في فقه السادة الشافعية يعدُّ من أبرز المتون التي كتب لها الذيوع والشيوع في صفوف طلبة العلم وأهله؛ لِما حواه من زبدة المذهب، وجميل النظم، وتضافر العلماء على قبوله. ولقد أجاد العلامة الشهاب الرملي في شرحه «الزبد»، ليكون شرحه هذا حلقة وصل ضمن سلسلة الفقه الشافعي. فاعتنى بشرحه هذا بضبط ألفاظ المتن، لغةً ونحواً، وبحسن عرضه الدقيق للمادة الفقهية، معتمداً على وحدة البيت ونثر ما فيه من مسائل، وهذا هو الأنفع لحفظة متن «الزبد».
نعته مصنفه العلامة الرملي فقال: فهذا شرح للمنظومة المسماة بـ «صفوة الزبد»، تأليف الإمام العالم العلامة ولي الله أبي العباس أحمد بن رسلان، يحل ألفاظها، ويبين مرادها، ويتمم مفادها، ويذلل صعابها، ويكشف لحفاظها نقابها، مع فوائد لا بد منها، ودقائق لا يستغنى عنها. ولم يخل كتابه من تحقيقاته المهمة وترجيحاته في المسائل التي لا غنى عنها.
وهذه الخدمة التي اضطلعت بها الدار.. إنما هي حلقةٌ من سلسلةٍ سابقةٍ. فقد قامت بأعمال جليلة تتعلق بهذا المتن المبارك. فقد عنيت بضبط المتن محققاً. وإخراجه أيضاً مع شرحٍ يسمى «إفادة السادة العُمَد» وقد طبع لأول مرة. وها هي تُثلِّثُ بهذا الشرح المبارك الذي اشتهر مؤلفه بعلو كعبه في الفقه الشافعي. وله الترجيحات التي يأخذ بها علماء الأقطار لما حباه الله تعالى من الفقه في الدين والاستنباط المتين.
