هذا تقديمٌ متواضعٌ للرحلة المباركة التي قام بها شيخُ الشيوخ، سيّدُنا الحبيب العلاّمة عمرُ بن أحمد بن سُميط باعلوي، لمَواطن أهله وأسلافه الصالحين بالقطر الحضرَميّ في عام 1387هـ، قادماً من ربوع جزائر القمر الإسلامية في شرق إفريقيا، حيث توطَّنت أُسرتُه منذ حوالي مئة وثلاثين سنة.
وهذه الرحلة هي الثالثة من رحلات هذا الحبيب الجليل، وكان قد دوَّنَ رحلتَيْه الأُولَييْنِ بنفسِه إبّانَ قوّتِه ونشاطه، ثم جاءت هذه الرحلةُ الأخيرة وهُو يخطو إلى سن التسعين، فوُفِّق لصحبته أحد خَواصّه من أهل شِبام، وهو الوالد الفاضل الشيخ محمّد جبران، أحدُ ثلاثة إخوة عقَدوا العزم والهِمة على خدمة هذا الإمام الجليل، فنالوا مِن سرِّه وبركته وصالح دعَواته ما ظَهَر على أعمالهمُ المباركة وأخلاقهم الحميدة، وهكذا تُثمر صحبة الصالحين والأخيار.
