"غربة" علي المفضلي، هل هي غربة روح، أم غربة جسد، أم غربة وطن، وبقراءة متأنية لنصوص المجموعة يدرك القارىء أنها الثلاثة وأكثر، وقد انطلق شاعرنا من الفلسفة العدمية في بعدها الأعمق لكائن متخبط في حياة موجعة، كاشفاً عن حالات الغربة التي تتلبس إنسان العصر الناقد الأمل بغدٍ مشرق ومستقبل يعمه السلام، وهو ما نجح الشاعر في بثه في النص، مولداً بذلك التأثير الأعمق في نفس المتلقي المشارك بالضرورة للحالة.
تحت عنوان "مواطن للغربة" يقول الشاعر علي المفضلي: "ليس بالضرورة أن تكون الغربة منفى أو مهجراً، الغربة الحقيقية غربة الشعور وتوقيته لأن بعض المشاعر تختار أوقاتاً ليست مباحة ولا متاحة لقدومها، وبالتالي هي مواطن الغربة الحقيقية للغريب ...". بهذا الشجن يكتب علي المفضلي نصوصاً لا تكتفي ببث هموم الذات، بل ينقد الواقع الناغل من حولنا ايضاً، جاءت في الكتاب على شكل ومضات قصيرة، ونصوص طويلة تحمل في ثناياها روح الشعر ونكهته وأجواءه، وهي وإن افتقدت الإيقاع والوزن، فقد استعاض عنها الشاعر ببراعة التصور وإجادة الرسم بالعبارة المتوهجة، وكما يقول الشاعر "الغربة لا تعني غربة الوطن ولا البعد عن الإحباب ... الغربة غربة الروح بين الأرواح".
يضم الكتاب ما يقارب المائة وأربعين نصاً نثرياً تتراوح بين الطول والقصر توزعت على أربعة مجموعات هي 1- مذكرات غريب، 2- الغريبة، 3- بعض صمت، 4- تجرد غير محدد، وأخيراً نصاً بعنوان "النهاية".
