في تلك الفترة الهامة والفاصلة في التاريخ العُماني، كان الكاتب زاهر المحروقي – كغيره من المتابعين – يتابع ما يجري، ويكتب عدة مقالات منها المقالات المنشورة في هذا الكتاب، التي تهتم بالشأن العام المحلي في السلطنة، لمعرفة ماذا جرى ..؟ وكيف جرى ..؟ ولماذا جرى ..؟ يجمع ما بين المقالات خيط رفيع، هو ضرورة الإصلاح والإهتمام بالتصحيح، لأن التجربة الإنسانية مهما بلغت – كما يقول المحروقي – فإنها تمر بفترات تحتاج فيها إلى المراجعة، لمعرفة أين أصابت وأين أخطأت؟، ولا توجد تجربة بدون أخطاء، فنحن لنا ما أصبنا فيه ولنا ما أخطأنا فيه أيضاً.
