هذا الكتاب هو بالأصل بحث قامت به المؤلّفة لنيل درجة الماجستير في البلاغة يدور حول دراسة أسلوب من أساليب العربية في الشعر السعودي. وهو "بلاغة الاستفهام في شعر محمود عارف".
فمحمود عارف أحد أعلام الأدب في المملكة العربية السعودية، ويعدّ من جيل الروّاد المبدعين، وفي الدراسة البلاغيّة لظاهرة من ظواهر شعره الأسلوبية إبراز لجانب من جوانب الأدب السعودي، وكشف لمظاهر الإبداع الذي بوأ أدب هذه البلاد منزلة عالية في الأدب العربي في العصر الحديث.
طرح الشاعر في شعره مجموعة كبيرة من الأسئلة المتلاحقة التي ألحّت عليه، وفي ذلك تعبير عن الحالة النفسية التي تعتريه، فكان الاستفهام المكثّف وسيلة تعبيرية ناجعة لنقل التجربة الشعورية إلى المتلقي. ويتّضح من خلال الكتاب أنّ أسلوب الاستفهام يحضر بقوّة في جميع موضوعات الشاعر، وقد كان ركيزة لغوية رئيسة عنده، حيث بلغت شواهده أربعمائة وستة وثمانون شاهداً، والاستفهام لدى محمود عارف يتجاوز أن يكون مجرّد استفهام حقيقي، إذ يعدل الشاعر عن ذلك فيوجهه إلى الإنكار، والتعجّب، والتمنّي، والنّفي، وغيرها من المعاني والأغراض التي جاءت في سياقات معبّرة عن حالات فكرية ومواقف شعورية راسخة في عقل الشاعر ووجدانه.
وللإحاطة بالموضوع جاء الكتاب في مقدمة وتمهيد وستّة فصول تتخلّلها مباحث ومطالب، وخاتمة وعدّة فهارس، على الشّكل التالي:
الفصل الأوّل: أدوات الاستفهام في شعر محمود عارف.
الفصل الثاني: المعاني البلاغية للاستفهام في الشعر الوطني لمحمود عارف.
الفصل الثالث: المعاني البلاغية للاستفهام في الشعر الوجداني لمحمود عارف.
الفصل الرابع: المعاني البلاغية للاستفهام في الشعر الاجتماعي لمحمود عارف.
الفصل الخامس: المعاني البلاغية في الاستفهام في شعر محمود عارف الديني والنقدي.
الفصل السادس: الخصائص التركيبية في جملة الاستفهام ومواضعها، وأثرها في ترابط المعاني في شعر محمود عارف.
