دراسة لغوية نقدية في التفصيح و التأصيل و المولد و الدخيل و يضم هذا المعجم الكلمات العامية الدارجة في سورية و خاصة في منطقة الساحل من الجمهورية العربية السورية مثبتاً لفظها و مبيناً معناها أو دلالاتها في أذهان العامة و محققاً أصلها و من أين أتت و هل هي تحريف أو تصحيف للفظة عربية فصيحة, أم أنها من لغة سامية كالسريانية أو غيرها أم أنها من السامي المشترك, أم أنها دخيلة أعجمية. و المعجم يسهم في خدمة اللغة العربية الفصحى من خلال شرح اللفظة العامية الى ما يقابلها من اللفظ الفصيح, و هو في بعض الأحيان يبين ما اعترى اللفظة الفصيحة من تحريف أو تصحيف و يرفعها بالدلالة على الأصل و في الأمرين معاً تقويم للسان و تعزيز للبيان, ثم إن تحقيق الألفاظ الآرامية أو الأكادية أو البابلية الأصل أو غيرها من السامي المشترك و نزع صفة الدخيل الغريب عنها يعود بالخير على العربية نفسها.
