هذا كتاب في بيان موقف خليل بن أبيك الصفدي، من شيخ الإسلام، أحمد بن عبد الحليم بن تيمية، موقف سرعان ما يجتلب إلى ذهن الخبير بسيرة شيخ الإسلام كلمة حق وانصاف لقاضي شافعي معاصر لهما من قضاة آل بيت السبكي، قالها حين أورد عليه أحدهم كلام خصوم ابن تيمية: والله ما يبغض ابن تيمية، إلا جاهل أو صاحب هوى، فالجاهل لا يدري ما يقول، وصاحب الهوى يصدة هواه عن الحق بعد معرفته به".
في هذا الإطار يأتي هذا الكتاب حيث يضم نقدات أدبية وعلمية منقولة عن المصادر، فيقدم في الفصل الأول ترجمة للصفدي ولرأي كل من ابن حجر العسقلاني والدماميني والتاج السبكي فيه، أما الفصل الثاني فيعرض لموقف الصفدي من ابن تيمية، ويأتي الفصل الثالث برد على سؤال مقاده هل رجع الحافظ الذهبي عن ثنائه على الصفدي.
