اهتم الإسلام بالإنسان بشكل عام اهتماماً بالغاً، فهو الأساس والمحور الذي تدور حوله الأحكام التي جاء بها، وسعادة الإنسان في الدارين هو الهدف فلا نكاد نجد مرحلة من مراحل عمره مهملة أو لم تشملها التشريعات والوصايا والأحكام الخاصة بها والطفل باعتباره إنساناً يعطيه الإسلام أهمية بالغة جداً.
وهذا الكتاب يتناول حقوق الطفل كما جاءت في القرآن الكريم وفي السنة المطهرة مقارنة مع ما أصدرته الجمعية العامة للأمم المتحدة من اتفاقية حقوق الطفل في تشرين عام 1989 والتي استندت لما سبقها من إعلان جنيف لحقوق الطفل عام 1924 وفي إعلان حقوق الطفل الذي اعتمدته في تشرين الثاني 1959 والمعترف به في الإعلان العالمي لحقوق الإنسان وغيرها من العهود والمواثيق الدولية. وللإحاطة بكافة جوانب الموضوع تم تقسيمه إلى عشرة فصول، يتناول كل منها موضوعاً خاصاً عن الطفل محوره مادة من مواد الاتفاقية من شرح وتوضيح ومقارنة مع ما ورد في القرآن الكريم والسنة الشريفة.
هذا وقد تم الاستعانة بالنصوص من كل من لائحة حقوق الإنسان واتفاقية حقوق الطفل توثيقاً للمعلومات مع الإشارة إلى ذلك، كما تم تخريج الآيات القرآنية والأحاديث الشريفة من مصادرها الموثوقة، وكذلك شرح لمضامين الأبيات الشعرية الواردة في النص الأصلي الفارسي وتوضيح ما يتطلب توضيحه في الهوامش.
