في كتابه هذا، يحاول علي أمين جابر الكشف عن الأسس التي اعتمدها صدر المتألهين "صدر الدين الشيرازي" في تفسيره وتأويله للقرآن، بوصفه يمثل أحد الأتجاهات الرئيسية للتأويل والتفسير عند الشيعة الإمامية (الإثني عشرية). وفي هذا الإطار يسلط المؤلف الضوء على جوانب، منها التاريخي، ومنها الأدبي واللغوي، ومنها العقلي، لكن يبقى العمل التحليلي والتركيبي هو الأساس. والتحليل، يعني المراجعة للأقوال والنصوص وقراءتها جيداً مقدمة لنقدها. وهو ما فعله مؤلف هذا الكتاب في تناوله البعد التفسيري للشيرازي من خلال مقاربة (فلسفية عرفانية) تسهم في توضيح آيات الكتاب الكريم وشرحها، وتم له ذلك من خلال خمسة فصول يسبقها مدخل، هو حول حياة صدر الدين الشيرازي وسيرته الذاتية ومنهجه في الحكمة المتعالية، وأما الفصل الأول، فهو تمهيد حول تفسير القرآن الكريم، والفصل الثاني، مدخل إلى تأويل صدر الدين الشيرازي، حيث تناول مصطلح التأويل، حيث مناقشة الوجود العام والوجود الحق والعوالم والنشآت والوسائط، ثم الفصل الخامس والأخير حول تأويل القرآن بما هو كلام إلهيَ موحَى إلى النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم وما له من أسماء ونعوت وما فيه من حروف مقطعة، ومنطق المطابقة والتناظر في القرآن الذي يوليه الشيرازي عناية خاصة. وأخيراً الخاتمة: وتتضمن نتائج البحث ومساهمة الشيرازي في ميدان التأويل.
