لقد عاش الشاعران حياتهما الإبداعية في ظروف تاريخية صعبة، إذ كان ذلك زمن التحضير للانقلاب الثوري. فكان زمنهما زمن التحولات تماماً. فكل ثورة هي تحطيم لبنى قديمة وبحث طويل وبطيء عن الجديد، ولهذا فقد كان طريق هذين الشاعرين يمر عبر البحث المضني عن الذات في الظروف الجديدة التي خلقتها من حولهما روسيا الثورية.
