لا تنفصلُ قصص هذه المجموعة إن في شكلها أو في محتواها، عن الخبرات والمواهب المتعددة التي تمتازُ بها شخصية خالد كاكي، فهو يكتبُ حينًا، ويعزفُ حينًا، ويرسمُ حينًا، حتى أنّهُ وضعَ لإحدى قصصهِ المعنونة «سيمفونية في ثلاث حركات»، تقسيماتٍ مقطعية مستوحاة من التقسيمات السيمفونية.
سردٌ خفيف الظلّ، سلس اللغة، طلقٌ، ومتنوّع، يقدّمهُ كاكي ضمنَ أحد عشر قصةً توزّعت على مئة وثمانية وعشرينَ صفحة من القطع الوسط. وقد صدر الكتاب ضمن مجموعة المتوسط المسماة «براءات» - وهي مجموعة إصدارات خاصة فقط بالشعر، والقصة القصيرة، والنصوص. أطلقتها المتوسط احتفاء بهذه الأجناس الأدبية.
