هذا الكتاب رحلة لكاتب هام بالأمكنة بكل أشكالها، وطناً ومنفى ومعتزلاً ومعبر سبيل، يأخذنا الكاتب فيه إلى أبسط التفاصيل وأدقها في بلد مكتنز بالأسرار، عشقه الأولون والآخرون، وكان جسراً بين الشرق والغرب، بين حدود الكتابة وتخوم الاكتشاف والسفر المتواصل في التاريخ وعبر التاريخ.
وإذا كان ثمة كتاب قد هاموا بطنجة الفريدة، موقعاً وتاريخاً، مثل محمد شكري، وجان جينيه، وتينيسي وليامز، وبول بولز، وأصروا على ألا يفارقوها، فإن الدوسري قد هام بمدن المغرب كلها، لكنه لم ينس أن يقول عن طنجة أيضا، "طنجة التي لا يغيب عنها القلب... خطفت مني البصر والخيال، وخلت نفسي أملك بيتاً خالداً فيها مطلاً تماماً على الأندلس".. مضيفاً، "هي من المدن النادرة في العالم، التي تكاد تلمس فيها الزمن لمس اليد، بل تكاد ترى الزمان رأي العين". لكن الدوسري يتساءل أيضاً، "لكن أليس غريباً ألا تستقطب طنجة إلا الأرواح المتردة على هذا العالم؟".
إن كتاب الدكتور أحمد الدوسري (الأبيض والأخضر) أشبه برواية بهوامش فوق المتن وفي صلبه، وهو في الوقت نفسه مزيج من السرد والمذكرات والهوامش والمدونات والكتابة التأريخية، وتسجيل الانطباعات عن المكان، وأدب الرحلة الروائي، وهو مليء بالإثارة والتشويق، حيث يحاول الكاتب أن يضاهي هذين اللونين بالكتابة بهما بوصفهما سر أسرار الفضاء المغربي الذي يكتشفه ويكتب عنه. لكن المزج الفريد بين لغتي الرحلة والرواية يبقى بالتأكيد من أهم ما يميز لغة الكاتب، الشاعر والروائي، وما يتميز به هذا الكتاب عن سواه.
