"أمجاد مريم البتول" كتاب وصفه القديس "ألفونس دو لبغوري" باللغة الإيطالية، ولأهمية فقد اعتنى "المطران مكسيموس مظلوم" بترجمته إلى اللغة العربية سنة 1827 وعلى اثر هذه الترجمة لقى الكتاب إقبالاً منقطع النظر من المؤمنين الناطقين بالعربية، فما إن يطبع حتى تنفد الكمية بسرعة وذلك نظراً لأهمية البالغة في الولوج إلى قلوب المؤمنين.
وبالعودة لمضمون هذا الكتاب نجد أنه قد جاء محتوياً على قسمين: القسم الأول يبرهن عن النعم الغزيرة السامية التي توزعها السيدة مريم على الأنام، والقسم الثاني يبرهن عما يختص هذه السيدة وعما يلاحظ أحزانها بوجه العموم والخصوص، ثم تورد الأشياء المتعلقة بفضائلها السامية، وأنواع العبادات التي يجب أن تكرم بها والأخبار المنتخبة الملاحظة هذا الموضوع. وأخيراً يضافا إلى ذلك مختصر سيرة حياة القديس المؤلف.
