في مجموعته القصصية الجديدة "بيجامة حمراء بدانتيلا بيضاء" يرصد الروائي العراقي نزار عبد الستار بيئة اجتماعية آخذة في التحول، تلك الناجمة عن دخول الأمريكي إلى العراق، وفي هذا السياق استطاع الروائي أن يطل من الفردي على الدولي أو تسقط العلاقات الدولية/ الإحتلال الأمريكي على تصرفات الأفراد في العراق. ولذلك نراه ينخرط في جملة من الأحداث التي رافقت الإحتلال يكون خلالها الناس في علاقات عابرة مؤقتة لا تلبث أن تنقطع ليعود كل منهم إلى فردانيته. يتمظهر هذا الكلام في الكشف عن الزيف والخداع الذي تستخدمه وسائل الإعلام في تعبئة الجماهير ففي القصة المعنونة بـ (ولد وبنت) يفضح الروائي كيف أن "قوات مكافحة الشغب تستخدم أجهزة وصلت من أمريكا" ما عدا "سيارات رش المياه" التي قد تتدخل في اي لحظة، لتصور مشهداً مفبركاً مع ضمان عدم تعرض (الولد والبنت) الذين يقومون بدور الضحايا للإعتقال، أو الأذى.
وهكذا في بقية قصص المجموعة يدخل الروائي في دغل العلاقات بين المحتل والحاكم والفرد ليصور لنَا الفوضى التي عمت البلاد، والتي يكون فيها المواطن العراقي هو الخاسر الوحيد.
تضم المجموعة عشرة قصص جاءت تحت العناوين الآتية: "توليب أبيض"، "بياتريس الوحيدة"، "ولد وبنت"، "بقايا"، "إنه يحب تلك الرائحة"، "كورنيش"...الخ.
