هنري ألفريد كسنجر والأصح هاينز ألفريد كسنجر (27 مايو 1923 في فورث، ألمانيا) باحث سياسي أمريكي وسياسي ألماني النشأة، ولد وسمي هاينز ألفريد كسنجر، كان أبوه معلماً، وبسبب أصله اليهودي هرب هو وأهله في عام 1938 من ألمانيا إلى الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية خوفاً من النازيين الألمان, التحق بمعهد جورج واشنطن في نيويورك, حصل على الجنسية الأمريكية عام 1948 والتحق بالجيش في نفس العام, شغل منصب وزير الخارجية الأمريكية من 1973 إلى 1977 وكان مستشار الأمن القومي في حكومة ريتشارد نيكسون.
لعب دورا بارزا في السياسة الخارجية للولايات المتحدة مثل سياسة الانفتاح على الصين وزيارته المكوكية بين العرب وإسرائيل والتي انتهت باتفاقية كامب ديفيد عام 1978.
عينه الرئيس رونالد ريغان في عام 1983 رئيساً للهيئة الفيدرالية التي تم تشكيلها لتطوير السياسة الأميركية تجاه أميركا الوسطى.
وأخيراً قام الرئيس جورج بوش (الإبن) بتعيينه رئيساً للجنة المسؤولة عن التحقيق في أسباب هجمات الحادي عشر من سبتمبر/أيلول 2001
