قال بعض العلماء المعاصرين: منذ قرون متعددة انقطع المستنبطون والمجددون والمستخرجون للنكت البديعة في الفنون، وصار المؤلف الحاذق هو الذي يستطيع أن يلخّص كلام السابقين من المصنفين، ويخرجه إلى الناس في أسلوب حسن.
وهذا النوع من المؤلفين بقوا إلى آخر المئة العاشرة، ومنهم مؤلف هذا الكتاب الإمام بحرق، حيث إن من الشعر حكماً، والشعر ذو أغراض مختلفة، ومركب ركبه العلماء، وزاحموا فيه الأدباء والشعراء، وهذه القصيدة المبتكرة "العروة الوثيقة" التي نظمها وشرحها المؤلف رحمه الله من أدلّ الشواهد على هذا.
فلقد وضعها صاحبها على أسلوب فريد، ونظام جديد مبتكرة، وأدخل فيها المعاني والأفكار المتناسقة البديعة، المستمدة معانيها من الشرع والسنة الشريفة.
وجعلها مرتكزة على الأعداد، وذكر تحت كل عدد جملة من المعاني والأسرار الذوقية، ولا اصدق من وصف ناظمها وشارحها لها، فهو أخبر بها وأدرى.. حيث قال رحمه الله تعالى: (لقد رأيت من النصيحة نظم قصيدة فريدة، غريبة وحيدة، صغيرة كبيرة، قليلة كثيرة، مشتملة على أصول الحكم والأحكام، مشيرة إلى الأحاديث التي عليها مدار الإيمان والإسلام، لم يسبقني إلى اختراعها إنسان، ولم يطمثها إنس قبلي ولا جان، غريبة في أسلوبها، عجيبة في ترتيبها، هادية لمقتفيها، مهديّة...)
