هذا الكتاب هو الكتاب الأول في السلسلة الجديدة "قضايا استراتيجية: وجهات نظر إسرائيلية" التي تقدمها مؤسسة الدراسات الفلسطينية إلى القارئ العربي، وتهدف إلى إطلاعه على معلومات ووجهات نظر إسرائيلية متعددة تتعلق بموضوعات وقضايا بالغة الأهمية للدولة والمجتمع العبريين، وتشمل الشؤون الأمنية والاقتصادية والاجتماعية والعسكرية والفكرية، إلخ، وذلك من خلال ترجمة أبحاث ودراسات صادرة عن مختلف مراكز الأبحاث والدراسات في إسرائيل. وقد جرى اختيار بعض وجهات النظر الإسرائيلية المتعلقة بالمشروع النووي الإيراني لتكون الموضوع الذي يتناوله الكتاب الأول في هذه السلسلة، نظراً إلى أهمية هذا المشروع والاهتمام الذي يحظى به إسرائيلياً وإقليمياً ودولياً.
يحوم فوق المنطقة شبح يقلق دولها، ويشغل أصحاب القرار في عواصم الدول الكبرى المعنية بالشرق الأوسط، وهو يظهر أحياناً ويغيب أحياناً أخرى، لكنه لا يختفي تماماً، ونعني به التهديد الإسرائيلي بشن هجوم على المنشآت النووية الإيرانية.
