في كتابه هذا ، يقدم الدكتور ميشال فارس حنا ( دراسة تحليلية بنيوية سيميائية ) عن قصيدة " لقاء الأمس " للأخوان رحباني ، استناداً إلى علم اللسانيات الذي يهتم بدراسة الرموز ، ويكشف ما تخفيه القصيدة من مكوّنات ، ودلالات وراء حجابٍ من الألغاز ، والرموز ، أو وراء ستارٍ من السهولة الممتنعة . لذلك اعتمد المؤلف في التحليل ، المنهج البنيوي السّيميائي ، والتحليل الألسني كوسيلة مساعدة للدراسة الأدبية المرجوة .
وبعد الدراسة المعمقة لقصيدة " لقاء الأمس " بدءاً من سيميائية العنوان ، مروراً بسيميائية الزمان والمكان في النص ، وسيميائية الصرف والنحو في القصيدة ، وسيميائية الإيقاع ، والصور البيانية وغير ذلك مما تتطلبه الدراسة في علاقات عناصرها ببعضها ، يخلص المؤلف إلى نتيجة مفادها : " ... وقد تبيّن لنا أن المستويات التي تشاركت في بنيان هذه القصيدة ، تضافرت ، على اختلاف أنواعها ، لتُبين ردّة فعل فتاةٍ تجاه الحب وذكراه ، فأظهرتها عاشقة لا معشوقة ، أمينةً وفيةً ، صادقة في مشاعرها ، تخجل فترتبك ، تحب فتحاول أن تكتم ، كما كشفت هذه المستويات أن هذا الحب طاهرٌ طُهر الطبيعة التي يعيش فيها ، عفيفٌ ومُنزّهٌ عن الإغراء والشهوة . وبذلك يكون الرحابنة في رأينا ، قد بيّنوا بأسلوب سيميولوجيّ ، نظرتهم إلى الحب ، وقدموا نموذجاً عن الفتاة اللبنانية العاشقة ومشاعرها ، في زمنهم ( ... ) " .
إن البنيّة النّصيّة تقوم على ركائز ثلاث: الشّموليّة، والتّحوّل، والتّحكّم الذّاتي؛ لذلك فكلّ نصّ يعيد إنتاج ذاته باستمرار. وهذه الرّكائز الثّلاث الّتي تؤسّس الوحدة فتجعلها شاملةً متحوّلةً متحكّمةً، هي الهويّة الّتيتميّز أيّ بنية من غيرها. وهذه التّكامليّة في الوحدة تعني أنّ العملَ الأدبيّ ليس ناقلاً للمعنى، ولكنّه قيمةٌ جوهريّةٌ ذاتيّةُ التّولّد، وذاتيّة التّحول.
