تتركز أهمية هذه الدراسة التي بين أيدينا في كونها تسلط الضوء على منطقة تزايدت أهميتها بعد الحرب العالمية الثانية بسبب موقعها الإستراتيجي وثرواتها النفطية، فقد تزايد الصراع حول مصادرها النفطية والسعي لخلق توازانات إقليمية تسهم في الحفاظ على المصالح النفطية والإستراتيجية للأطراف المتصارعة، كما أنها تهدف إلى رصد وتحليل وتقييم الإتجاهات السائدة للقوى الخارجية والداخلية في الفترة الممتدة 1945- 1971م.
بالإضافة إلى دراسة المطالب الإيرانية في الخليج إثر الحرب العالمية الثانية (1945- 1971)، وقد تضمنت هذه الدراسة تمهيداً ومقدمة وأربعة فصول وخاتمة، وقد تضمنت هذه الدراسة تمهيداً ومقدمة وأربعة فصول وخاتمة، وفي التمهيد تطرقت الدراسة إلى إزدياد الأهمية الإستراتيجية للخليج العربي بعد الحرب العالمية الثانية ثم الحرب الباردة وتحول الخليج إلى واحدة من أهم مناطق الإستقطاب ليتم تهيئة القارئ للبيئة العامة للموضوع.
في الفصل الأول تناولت المؤلفة الأبعاد الجيوسياسية للتطلعات الإيرانية في الخليج العربي، أما الفصل الثاني فناقش المشاريع الإيرانية لفرض واقع جديد على المناطق المتطلع إليها، ويحمل الفصل الثالث عنوان التحركات الإيرانية في الخليج العربي في حسابات الحرب الباردة، وينقسم إلى محورين المحور الأول هو الموقف الدولي من التحركات الإيرانية.
والمحور الثاني هو إستغلال إيران الحرب الباردة عسكرياً، أما الفصل الرابع والأخير فهو بعنوان الإنسحاب البريطاني من الخليج العربي وتأثيره على مجرى الترتيبات الإيرانية.
