اللغة الأوردية هي لغة الباكستان الأدبية. نشأت عن اللغة الهندية الغربية، وتأثرت تأثراً كبيراً باللغة الهندستانية. وإنما يرقى تاريخها كلغة مستقلة إلى عهد الأسرة المغولية وهي أسرة إسلامية مالكة حكمت أجزاء واسعة من الهند وذلك من مطلع القرن السادس عشر إلى أواسط القرن الثامن عشر للميلاد.
واللغة الأوردية تكتب بالحروف العربية وتكثر فيها المفردات الفارسية والعربية والتركية. وإذا كنت بحاجة لتعلم هذه اللغة فهذا الكتاب الذي بين أيدينا هو خير وسيلة لك. حيث يضم مفردات تلك اللغة التي تسهل لك تعلمها ابتداءً من حروفها الهجائية والضمائر كافة وأسماء الأعداد والأجزاء وأيام الأسبوع... وأجزاء جسم الإنسان والمآكل... والوظائف... وفي مكتب السفريات وفي الفنادق إلى غير ذلك من المفردات التي يمكن لأي شخص استعمالها في حال كان سائحاً لإحدى تلك البلاد التي تستعمل تلك اللغة، حيث يمكّنه الدليل من التفاهم معهم وحتى التحدث إليهم بكل يسر وسهولة.
