تعتبر فلسفة العلوم حلقة الإتصال بين العلم والفلسفة، فهي تهتم بالدراسة النقدية لمبادئ العلوم وفروضها ونتائجها، بل وحتى نواميسها ونتائجها التي تقوم عليها ومن ثمة الكشف عن أصولها وأبعادها الفلسفية والإبستمولوجية وبإعتبار أن فلسفة الرياضة فرع هام من فروع فلسفة العلوم فهي تقوم على نقد المعرفة الرياضية عن طريق تحليل البناء الرياضي وعناصره ولغته والمنهج الذي يتبعه.
وإن هذا التطور والإنقلاب الذي عرفته الرياضيات، والذي أحدث ثورة علمية ومعرفية ضخمة أفرز لنا جملة من المفاهيم والنتائج العلمية الجديدة، ما يجعل إعادة النظر في الإطار الإبستمولوجي الكلاسيكي ضرورة معرفية لبناء إبستمولوجية جديدة مطابقة لهذا التغير والتحول، وهو ما حمل لواءه مجموعة من فلاسفة العلم المعاصرين، ومنهم روبير بلانشيه شخصية هذا البحث.
لقد حاول روبير بلانشيه من خلال تقديمه لقراءة تحليلية تاريخية نقدية لتطور الرياضيات موضوعاً ومنهجاً، وما أحدثه المنهج الأكسيومي من إعادة قولبة للمفاهيم الرياضية الأساسية ومن إقتحام لباقي العلوم الأخرى أن يؤسس لمشروع فلسفي جديد يقوم على عقلانية معاصرة ترفض أطر العقلانية الكلاسيكية ومقولاتها، وأراد لهذا المشروع أن يكون صدى للثورة العلمية ومطابقاً لها وقادراً على إستيعاب تحولاتها: إنها العقلانية الرياضية.
ومن هنا، كان موضوع هذا الكتاب بعنوان: الأكسيوماتيك عند روبير بلانشيه، الذي سيتحدث فيه عن تطور المنهج الرياضي وظهور الأكسيوماتيك وما أحدثه هذا الأخير من تغيير في صورة الرياضيات من جهة، وعلى الخطاب الفلسفي من جهة أخرى.
