"هل تذكرين ناظم حكمت؟ مللت من سماع الأغاني.. أريد أن أغني الأغاني؟ قلبي لم يتعب بعد وسماع الأغاني أجمل من غنائها أحياناً، هي ما زالت تنبض مثل حبك في أعماق قلبي. كم مر عليّ في هذياني أغوص في الأوراق والتفاصيل الكثيرة وأنا في هذا الركن معزولة، منفوشة الشعر مبعثرة الأحاسيس؟ وقفت قبالة المرآة أرتب شعري الذي لم يعرف الترتيب أياماً. لون غريب لمع بين طياته. كان العمر يهرب بضحكاته القليلة وذكرياته المتزاحمة وبالكتابة التي لم تكتمل سطورها بعد. وحده العمر يكتمل في نقصان وخيبة، أيام تركض بلا عنوان، بلا أرصفة، وفكرت أن الحياة لا تحتمل الفرح وتفتقر البراءة. توجهت نحو النافذة أزحت ستائرها الرقيقة البيضاء، عاد إليّ هيثم.. يتسلل عطره إلى أنفي: "الحب يأتي مرة واحدة..".. أفقت من شرودي على صوت رصاص يأتي من ناحية الشاعر الذي حجب عني بأغصان يابسة لشجر السرو النحيل المتناثر. قفزت إلى نافذة الصالون لأرقب المشهد الرصاصي والجنود ببنادقهم الطويلة يفرغون حافة الباص الهزيل من ركابه ويأمرون الشباب بالاصطفاف مرفوعي الأيدي على جدار الكنيسة. عصرت يدي التي أمسكت بالقلم الذي تفتت رصاصه بين يدي وتساقط كالذكريات البعيدة عند حافة النافذة".
قصة عاطفية تتداخل تفاصيلها حيناً مع قصة فلسطين السليبة في معاناتها، وتتباعدان أحياناً إلا أنهما تلتحمان عند نقطة الفراق والوداع والمأساة.
