يهدف كتاب أساسيات علم التحضير النسيجي إلى تقديم الطرق التحضيرية وخطوات إجرائها عملياً لمساعدة الفنيين في المختبرات الطبية والمتخصصين في علم الأنسجة فبينت الوحدة الأولى أهمية علم الأنسجة وتحضير الشرائح النسيجية والتثبت وأهم المثبتات المستخدمة في علم الأنسجة فيما تحدثت الوحدة الثانية عن نزع الكلس ومحاليل وطرق معرفة الانتهاء من نزع الكلس ثم ناقشت الوحدة الثالثة مراحل المعالجة النسيجية وعملياتها.
أما الوحدة الرابعة فقد تطرقت لدراسة جهاز المعالجة الآلي وبيان فوائده وتركيب آلية عمله والبدائل اليدوية لمعالجة الأنسجة وخصصت الوحدة الخاصة لمعالجة مفهوم "القطع" وأجهزته وتحضير العينات لعملية القطع والتعليم وتطرقت كذلك لمشاكل القطع وبينت كيفية تحمل المقاطع على الشرائح ولصق المقاطع.
أما الوحدة السادسة فقد تناولت عملية الصباغة في تحضير الأنسجة وتصنيف الصفات وطرق الصياغة وأوساط وطريقة النفطية أما الوحدة السابعة فقد تطرقت للمقاطع الجليدية وتحضيرها والتجمد الجاف فيما تناولت الوحدة الثامنة علم الخلايا التقشرية وأنواع العينات والتجاويف وتحضير الشرائح النسيجية من تلك العينات.
