إن صورة "عباد الرحمن كانت واضحة في ذهني يوم شرعت في كتابة أناشيد "فتى الإسلام"، كما :ان تصوري لهم واضحاً أيضاً، فبدأت ذلك منذ أكثر من ثلث قرن، وما زلت قائماً على هذه الثغرة محاولاً تأدية الواجب الذي أحسبه كبيراً وخطيراً، وأرى مساحته خالية أو تكاد.
"عباد الرحمن الذين أوضح لنا الرحمن صفاتهم في سورة الفرقان هم الصفوة الممتازة والمتميزة من الفتية الذين آمنوا بربهم وزادهم الله هدى... فهم كما وصفهم ربهم، وكما أريد منهم ولهم، وكما يريد معي كل مؤمن بوجوده، وبمعنى وجوده أينما كان.. هم المؤمنون حقاً.. لم يتحزبوا، ول يتحيزوا، ولم يتمذهبوا، ولم يتعصبوا، إنهم الدعاة إلى الله بالحكمة والرشاد.
أليسوا هم الصفوة المختارة من الله الذي يعلم السر وأخفى، وبعلمه وحكمته ورحمته أناط بهم وبجهادهم كل خير وصلاح! لقد اجتهدت ما وسعني الجهد في كتابة هذه الأناشيد أن أرسم صورتهم، وأقترب معهم إلى ما أتمنى أن يكونوا عليه من إيمان، وإعداد، ثم لأعرفهم بما هو مأمول ومطلوب منهم من أعمال.
