في مجموعته الشعرية "يفداش قلبي" بدا الشاعر حمد البريدي يتنفس عشقاً، لا ينفك عن وصف آلام البعد وبتاريخ الهوى والتعبير عن الشوق والحنين، لذلك تبرز في لغته العودة إلى ما يسمى في الأدب العربي القديم بــ "الغزل العذري"، مع شيء من الصراحة، فالشاعر لا يجد غضاضة في التصريح عن مكنون هواه لحبيبة ظل يبحث عنها طويلاً في خياله، فما أن وجدها حتى باح لها بمكنون شعوره ووجدانه، تلك هي ملهمته التي يفتتح بها مجموعته...
يقول الشاعر: "ملهمتي... البريق الذي في عينيها راود الإلهام في داخلي... حتى انسكب إبريق الشعور بقصائد ملأت الأرجاء... وأثارت النفوس وإزدانت بها عباراتي على كل مسرح... لم أخترها ولم تختارني... شاءت الصدف أن تجمعنا بلا موعد مسبق... فحدث ما لم يكن بالحسبان، وإزداد الشاعر إلهاماً... أغرق به بحور الشعر، حتى فاضت القوافي!"...
تضم المجموعة قصائد متنوعة جاءت على بحور الشعر الموزون والمقفر، والشعر العربي الحديث، وقصيدة النثر، بعضها باللغة العربية الفصحى، وبعضها الآخر باللغة (المحلية) للشاعر، نذكر من العناوين: "الحظ السعيد"، "تجربة عمري"، "الإبتسامة"، "قال وقلت"، "سافر وغير جو"، "تلاقينا"، "النجاح"، "نقلة الطير"، "الأصدقاء"... وقصائد أخرى.
لم يكتف الشاعر حمد البريدي في ديوانه الثاني بمجموعة قصائد منتقاة تُنشر لأول مرة ليفاجئ بها جمهوره، بل أضاف إليها نظرته في بعض أمور الحياة والسلوكيات من حولنا، مستعينا بأسلوب فريد ساعده على الوصول إلى مكنونات النفس البشرية التواقة للحب.
