تنطلق الروائية أسماء وليد النقبي من بؤرة أساسية لتوليد المتخيل السردي في "تيمتك أنا" ألا وهي بؤرة المتذكر بكل تخاييله وتباريح العشق والشوق لبطلا روايتها "سلطان" و "دانة" من أجل خلق الخيط الناظم الواصل بينهما وتقريب الصورة من تضاريس الموضوع الهام للرواية أمام المتلقي.
في الإطار العام تلعب الصدفة دورها في مسار الأحداث، فيشكل قيام دانة بإرسال صورتها عن طريق الخطأ إلى "سلطان" بدلاً من "جود" صديقتها التي كانت قد طلبت منها إرسال صورتها بالفستان الذي ارتدته في حفل زفاف أخيها لكي تخيط مثله، الإشارة الأولى (بداية قصة حب بين سلطان الذي أعجب بالصورة و دانة الحالمة بقصة حب. تتوالى الأحداث حتى يتعرف بطلا الرواية على بعضهما أكثر في الجامعة .. ولكن، هل يمكن لصدفة أن تكون حباً حقيقياً أم لا؟
من أجواء الرواية نقرأ:
" ... اليوم أعلن بأني أصبحت يتيمة، يتيمتك أنا يا سلطان ! فقدت حباً عظيماً ظننته سيلازمني طيلة حياتي .. وسيقضي أجمل وأرذل العمر وهو بجانبي .. وهو يجدل شعري ذو الخصلات البيضاء لأنحني نحوه وأطبع قبلة بطيئة على جبينه. بينما أجعله يتذوق ما طبخت من فواكه مسلوقة دون إضافة الملح ليجاملني بأني لا زلت أمتلك مهارة استخدام التوابل (...).
... سأدعو لكَ دائماً يا سلطان !
لن أنساكَ !
لن أهوى سواك !
ليس سذاجة مني ..
بل لأن يتيمةً مثلي لن تجد بديلاً ...
لشخص أذاقها أول صفعة عشق ..
وجرعها كأس كلمات حب فاخرة.
هو أدرك خسارته، خيبته، خذلانه أما أنا أدركت حريتي استقلاليتي، وحياتي، واعتزلت الحب!".
