يشكل هذا الكتاب قراءات في فكر الفقيه والمرجع الديني العلاّمة السيد محمد حسين فضل الله، جاءت كشهادة على حياة حافة بالعمل الدؤوب في المجال الدعوي والإجتماعي، والتجديد في الخطاب الديني برمته ... وفيها يسجل نخبة من أهل الفكر والعلم والمعرفة رأيهم في فكر العلامة فضل الله ومنهم الدكتور محمد سليم العوّا الذي اعتبره من فرسان الوحدة الإسلامية ومن دعاة الفهم الصحيح لهذه الوحدة، بينما اعتبره الباحث منير شفيق (الفقيه النموذج) بل يصل إلى مرتبة الإجتهاد، باعتبار أن الأمة الإسلامية بحاجة إلى الفقيه الذي لا ينشغل فقد بفقه الآحاد، وإنما يمسك بفقه الأمة ككل، وبقضايا الأمة ككل". أما العميد الركن أمين حطيط فشدد على "تمسك السيد بمرتبة العقل وأهميته" الذي قاده إلى احترام عقول الناس الذي فيه احتراماً لإنسانية الإنسان. وأما السيد محمد رضا فضل الله، فيرى في العلاّمة (عقلانية الخطاب الإسلامي) فهو برأيه "يمتلك كفاءة علمية كافية يستطيع من خلالها أن يعرض الفكرة، ويحلل عناصرها، يتقديم الدليل الذي يُقنع، ويؤكد تسليم الآخر بقوة حجته (...)" وبذلك يحقق الخطاب أهدافه ... وأخيراً تحدث سماحة الشيخ علي مرعي عن (المنهج التجديدي عند السيد محمد حسين فضل الله) في مجال الفقه والدين بشكل عام، مع توضيح عدد من الأمور الأساسية التي ترتبط بالإستنباط والفقه، وفي الخصوص أمور الإجتهاد والتقليد ...
