The Author Book The Geography Of Dar Al-Islam Humankind Until The Middle Of The Eleventh Century C 1 BC 1 and the author of 20 another books.
ولد أندريه ميكيل في جنوب فرنسا عام 1929، وأتم دراسته بمدرسة المعلمين العليا.
درس العربية على يد بلاشير، وعمل عقب تخرجه في دمشق وبيروت بالمعهد الفرنسي للدراسات العربية، ثم عمل في إثيوبيا فترة عامين في أواسط الخمسينيات.
وعندما عاد إلى فرنسا ليعمل في وزارة الخارجية، اختير مستشارًا ثقافيًا لفرنسا في مصر عام 1961.
تولى تدريس الأدب العربي في الجامعات الفرنسية منذ سنة 1968.
عمل في جامعة فانسان Vincent، وجامعة السربون الجديدة La Sorbonne Nouvelle، ثم شغل منصب مدير معهد لغات الهند والشرق وشمال إفريقيا وحضاراتها في جامعة باريس الثالثة قبل أن يُنتخب أستاذًا لكرسي الأدب العربي في الكوليج دي فرانس عام 1975.
وفي 1984 اختير ميكيل مديرًا للمكتبة الوطنية في باريس، وكانت المرة الأولى التي يُختار فيها أحد المتخصصين في الدراسات العربية والإسلامية لهذا المنصب الرفيع.
ثم عاد ميكيل عام 1986 إلى الكوليج دي فرانس، واختير سنة 1989 رئيسًا لها، وواصل خلال هذه الرحلة العلمية عطاءاته المتصلة في مجال الأدب العربي بترجماته المتخصصة إلى الفرنسية والمقدمة للمثقف العام، أو بإلقائه للمحاضرات في الجامعات العربية بلغة عربية دقيقة، وبإشرافه على الرسائل العلمية للدارسين العرب في الجامعات الفرنسية.
- من أهم مؤلفاته: 1.
الإسلام وحضارته L'islam et sa civilisation، وقد نشر عام 1968، وترجم إلى كثير من اللغات الأوروبية.
2.
الأدب العربي la littérature arabe، وهو كتيب صدر في سلسلة واسعة الانتشار في فرنسا.
وقد ظهر في تونس بترجمة رفيني بن ناس وصالح حيزم والطيب المشاش.
3.
سبع حكايات من ألف ليلة وليلة Sept Contes des Mille et Une Nuit.
4.
ترجمة "قصة عجيب وغريب"، وهي إحدى قصص ألف ليلة وليلة، وإجراء دراسة تحليلية معاصرة لها.
5.
ترجمة قصة "ليلى والمجنون" إلى الفرنسية.
6.
ترجمة ديوان "المعبد الغريق" لبدر شاكر السياب.
إلى جانب عشرات الدراسات والمقالات حول الأدب العربي والإسلام في المجلات والدوريات الفرنسية.
