يتناول هذا الكتاب فترة مهمة تعد واحدة من أخصب الفترات التاريخية التي شهدت إيران خلالها أحداثاً جسام لم تترك آثارها على المرحلة ذاتها فحسب، وإنما امتدت لتضع بصماتها الواضحة على ما أعقبها من أحداث لاحقة. فإثناءها وقع انقلاب شباط 1921 الذي عرف رضا خان كيف يستغله لتصفية منافسيه على السلطة، عاملاً بدأب من أجل تعبيد طريقة نحو الحكم، الأمر الذي حققه أخيراً، حينما أزاح آخر ملك قاجاري ضعيف عن عرش الطاووس، ليرتقيه هو بمناوراته السياسية، ليصح حاكماً مطلقاً لإيران طيلة ستة عشرة سنة متواصلة امتدت من عام 1925 لغاية 1941.
