ثريَا مانوتشهري، ليست مجرّد شخصيّة من نسج الخيال، بل امرأة من لحم ودم، إنها كائن بشريّ جرّدته يد المجتمع من كلّ شيء وقضت عليه بالموت رجما، لا لشيء إلاّ لأنّ زوجها أراد التخلّص منها فاتّهمها بالخيانة.
هي دليل إدانة آخر يرفعه الروائيّ والصحفي الإيرانيّ فرايدون صاحبجام في وجه نظام الخميني الّذي أصدر ضدّه حكماً بالإعدام سنة 1979 بسبب نقده المستمرّ له، ولكن الكاتب المقيم في باريس تمكّن رغم ذلك في فيفري 1987 من التسلّل خفية إلى بلده الأصليّ لمتابعة وقائع تنفيذ حكم بالرجم حتى الموت ضدّ "ثريّا مانوتشهري التي اتُّهمت ظُلما بخيانة زوجها.
وهكذا يتحوّل الكاتب شاهدَ عيان على جريمة بشعة في حقّ إمرأة انتهكت إنسانيّتها ولفّها الصمت، امرأة تآمر عليها مجتمع بأسره، وأُجبر والدُها على إلقاء الحجر الأوّل في عمليّة الرجم.
تُرجمت هذه الرواية إلى أكثر من 34 لغة في ا لعالم، وحُوّلت إلى شريط سينمائيّ ناجح بعنوان "رجم ثُريّا"، أخرجه قرش نوراسته سنة 2008.
