لقد أحدثت أساليب التدريس تطوراً كبيراً في تدريس التربية الرياضية ، إذا أن تنوّع مجتمع الطلاب من حيث اختلاف القدرات البدنية والمهارية والميول والرغبات ، هو الأمر الذي حتّم استخدام أساليب تدريس مختلفة تتوافق مع هذه المتغيرات .
