رغم ما يعتقده بعض الساسة التقليديين من فصل الاقتصاد عن السياسة إلا أن القاعدة والنمط التي وفقهما توالت الأحداث منذ الحرب العالمية الثانية وحتى مطلع القرن الواحد والعشرين لا شك وقد برهنتا لمثل هؤلاء بأنه لا فصل للاقتصاد عن السياسة بل إن تسييس الاقتصاد سيضحى صفة هذا القرن. إن الغاية من هذا الكتاب هو توصيف وتحليل للوثائق والأحداث المعنية بظاهرة العولمة تحت شعار تحرير الأسواق التجارية والمالية بقصد الوصول إلى السوق العالمية الواحدة.
وإن أهم ما دفع المؤلف إلى إصداره تلك الاستجابة السريعة لبعض الدول الشرق أوسطية وبالتحديد العربية منها للانضمام إلى اتفاقية منظمة التجارة الدولية "الجات" وكأن لسان حال هذه الدول يقول "دعنا نفز بحصة السبق" وبالفعل فقد هرعت هذه الدول في سباق مع الزمن لوضع القوانين والتشريعات التي تكفل حرية المال والتجارة وبدأت تستعمل مكبرات الصوت لتسمع "الامبريالية العالمية" بما يفيد "إننا هنا في انتظار رؤوس أموالكم" هذا هو مفهوم "العولمة" أو السوق العالمية الواحدة في أذهان صناع السياسة الاقتصادية في تلك الدول ولكن قد يتساءل بعض القراء ما معنى محور العولمة؟ أو من يمثل هذا المحور؟ وما هي أركان العولمة؟ وكيف نشأت هذه العولمة؟ ومن أنشأها؟ ثم ما هي أهدافها؟ إن الإجابات عن هذه الأسئلة سيجدها القارئ ضمن فصول هذا الكتاب، الذي قصدت منه المؤلفة إشراك القارئ في الحكم على جدوى هذا النهج الذي اعتمد الوثائق بالدرجة الأولى ومن ثم كيفية التعامل مع هذه الوثائق في تحليل الوقائع والأحداث التي لم تتطرق إليها هذه الوثائق بحملة أسباب من أبرزها صعوبة التنبؤ.
